TAMARAC, Florida - Gurkha Cigar Group International announces a special release for the Year of the Dragon, 2024.

During PCA Convention 2023, Gurkha Cigar Group announced the launch of the Year of the Dragon, paying homage to the Year of the Chinese Zodiac: 2024.

Announcing a limited edition of 1,500 numbered red coated boxes with ornate gold dragons on top, each box contains 15 Figurado cigars (6×52), manufactured by El Artista in the Dominican Republic. They were sold out to retailers within days.

Releasing exclusively with Cigar Snob Magazine, Gurkha announced the full collaboration for the Year of the Dragon 2024. The project is the first collaboration of its kind - 5 different production partners are releasing an entire project incrementally throughout the year. Each box contains a humidor seal and is the perfect collectible to commemorate the Year of the Dragon 2024.

The first Year of the Dragon was released as issue 15, a red Ferrari box adorned with 2 dragons on top.

Working with El Artista Cigar Factory, cigar shaped 6 ×52 Figurado is produced in Dominican Republic. It began shipping in December 2023. Launching just in time for the Chinese New Year, which begins in February 2024, Gurkha Cigar Group has partnered with AJ Fernandez to create pressed cigar measuring 6 5/8×52 box в commemorative green box with 10 pieces .

The next collaboration will be released in April and is a black commemorative box of 10 pieces, 6 5/8×54 TORO cigars from Ernesto Perez-Carrillo.

Oliva Cigar Company is making the next Gurkha collaboration, which will ship in June in a 10-piece, 6×60 cigar Figurado, orange commemorative box.

The final installment of Gurkha's Year of the Dragon will be made by Oscar Valladares in a 10 piece, 6×52 TORO cigar, yellow commemorative box.

In addition to the cigar releases, Gurkha is also introducing a 200 count humidor at this year's PCA show in March. The humidor will contain 80 cigars (20 of each of the new associates' blends). "Each of the boxes is designed as small desktop humidors." says Jim Colucci, president of Gurkha Cigars.

"We've owned the Dragon trademark since 2009. We thought it was fitting to do something huge to commemorate the Year of the Dragon, especially since we've always had big Dragon releases over the years," commented Colucci. Gurkha Cigar Group owns not only the commercial Dragon brand, but also a series of dragon trademarks over the years, including Dragon Fire, Dragonfly, Dragonslayer, Imperial Dragon, Red Dragon, Royal Dragon, Dragon Lord, etc.

"We are extremely excited about this project," says Juan Lopez, Vice President of Sales for Gurkha Cigars. "It truly feels like a one-of-a-kind opportunity to release and work with these modern legends of the industry. My team and I are excited to share this with the cigar smoking community and can't wait to show everyone the finished product."

Be on the lookout for the full release of Gurkha Cigar's Year of the Dragon, coming in 2024. The project is limited to 2,000 boxes of each of the next four releases.
